Philip Caporusso
Partner
Phil has over 30 years of experience advising clients on all aspects of their business. He uses a “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach to assist with reorganizations, as well as the development of growth strategies, cost controls, and management systems. His involvement in pre-sale planning and subsequent sales transactions has enabled clients to successfully market and sell their businesses at the right time while maximizing the sales price. Guiding clients through many phases of their operations has provided Phil with insightful knowledge, making him an invaluable asset to the firm.
Phil’s experience in public accounting spans both small and large firms. As a Partner in the firm, he provides accounting services—including forensic auditing, audits, reviews, and compilations—to his clients. He also prepares corporate, individual, fiduciary, and estate tax returns, and represents clients before taxing authorities. Additionally, Phil advises on business financing matters such as traditional bank financing, asset-based lending, and equity financing through private placement memorandums. He also provides personal financial, pension, and retirement planning services.
In addition to serving clients, Phil is a member of the firm's executive committee.
Phil began his career at the international accounting firm Ernst & Young. After gaining experience on the audit staff, he transferred to the tax department and became a Tax Manager. Following seven years at Ernst & Young, he left to establish the firm of Ferrera, DeStefano & Caporusso, CPAs in June 1990 (now part of the Heritage brand). Phil received his B.B.A. in Accounting from Pace University and his master’s degree in Taxation from Long Island University.
