Mike is a Certified Public Accountant and one of the founders of Ferrera, DeStefano & Caporusso (now part of the Heritage brand). He has experience in both the private sector and public accounting. Prior to starting FDC, he served as CFO for companies in the finance and wholesale industries. In that role, he guided each organization from its inception by obtaining financing, setting up financial and accounting systems, preparing business plans, and managing overall finances. When it came time to sell, he was also instrumental in negotiating the terms and ensuring the sale’s completion.

Mike has extensive experience in all areas of taxation (individual, business, estate, and sales tax) and has successfully represented clients before taxing authorities—at times saving them millions of dollars by correcting erroneous assessments. He also assists new businesses by preparing business plans, helping determine the best organizational structure, and establishing accounting systems. Additionally, his background in business valuations enables him to advise clients on the value of their enterprises. Finally, he has worked with high-net-worth clients by overseeing investment strategies recommended by their investment managers, serving as a trusted advisor.

Mike graduated from Hofstra University with a B.B.A. in Accounting. He was then recruited by the international accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand, where he worked for several years before moving into the private sector.
